In 2019, FAU published a press release for our development of an advanced optical endoscope for label-free in vivo tissue diagnostics, after publication in ‘Advanced Science’. Now Ashwathama Dilipkumar and Lucas Kreiß, two Doctoral Candidates at the MBT and first authors of this publication, have received the SAOT Student Award for the best scientific publication in the field ‘Optics in Medicine’ by the Erlangen Graduate School in Advanced Optical Technologies. The project is part of an ongoing collaboration between the University Clinics Erlangen (Medicine 1) and the MBT . It is managed by Maximilian Waldner, Sebastian Schürmann and Oliver Friedrich. Currently, the potential of label-free multiphoton imaging is explored for the investigation of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) within the collaborative research center TRR-241 between FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Charité in Berlin (see ‚Transregio‘)..
